Workforce Development and Readiness
In Southwest Arkansas, the District plays an important role in the development of the regional workforce. Our commitment to the development of the regional workforce is seen through the many services that the District provides to both the job seeker and the employers of Southwest Arkansas through the Workforce Investment ACT (WIA). Some of these services include: Workforce Center Operator for Southwest Arkansas serving twelve counties: · Three certified comprehensive workforce centers · One certified comprehensive-full time partner (Texas Workforce Center) · Eight affiliate Workforce Centers The Business Community: · On-the-Job Training · Work Experience · Technical assistance on Workforce Grants · Qualified Job Candidates · Regional voice in Workforce Development through the Southwest Arkansas Workforce Investment Board · Coordination of State and Federal programs available to the business community through a partnership with State Agencies · Information resource for the business community on services available through WIA and other funding sources The Job Seeker (includes Adults, Youth, and Dislocated Workers): · Job Search · Resume Preparation · Information about a variety of programs available · Work Experience · On-the-Job Training · Advanced Career Education development · Comprehensive Youth Services · Referrals to partner agencies for needed services not offered by the District · Supportive Services Mitigation of Long Term Economic Deterioration & Sudden and Severe Economic Dislocation The District assists the region in alleviating long term economic deterioration and sudden and severe economic dislocation through the following strategic planning and economic development programs: · Economic Development Administration LTED Program (Title IX - Strategy Grants and Implementation Grants) · Economic Development Administration SSED Program (Title IX - Strategy Grants and Implementation Grants) · Department of Defense Base Reuse Program · Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment · Department of Labor · WIA Dislocated Workers Program TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
